Everyone who visits our islands takes a photo on the famous Yellow Bridge. It is a rite of passage! But sadly, many people stop there.

They snap the picture, maybe grab a corn on the cob, and turn back. Or, if they do cross, they rush straight to the famous Blue Lagoon.

But an exploring Nusa Ceningan day trip should be so much more than just the bridge and the blue water.

Nusa Ceningan is Lembongan’s smaller, quieter sister island. The vibe here is different—it is even more relaxed, if that is possible! Once you cross the bridge (on foot or by scooter), a whole new adventure begins.

We want to show you the secret spots Nusa Ceningan locals love.

The “Other Side” of Ceningan

Most tourists cross the bridge and immediately turn left. This takes you to the busy beach clubs and the cliff jumping spots.

But if you want to find the real magic, try turning right.

This road winds up a small hill and along the quiet, mangrove-facing side of the island. It is a route that many visitors miss, but it offers some of the most spectacular scenery in Indonesia.

Here, you will find tiny local warungs (cafes) perched on the edge of the hill. They aren’t fancy, but they have million-dollar views.

The Best View in the House

Why is this side so special? Because it gives you a totally new perspective.

From these hidden cafes, you can look back across the channel to Nusa Lembongan. You will see:

  • The patchwork of the seaweed farms in the clear water below.

  • The dense green of the Mangrove Forest.

  • And towering above it all, the majestic Mount Agung volcano on the mainland of Bali.

It is a breathtaking panorama. This is the real off-the-beaten-path Nusa Lembongan and Ceningan experience.

Find a Hidden Hammock

The ridge road on Ceningan is dotted with these small, family-run spots. They are colorful, quiet, and perfect for a lazy afternoon.

Order a fresh coconut or a cold Bintang, find a hammock, and just read a book. The breeze is cool up on the ridge, and the only sound is the distant hum of a boat engine. You won’t find these specific places in the big travel guides, and that is exactly why we love them.

You just have to get on your scooter and get lost.

Gecko Tip: How to Get There

Exploring Ceningan is easy! From your bungalow at Gecko Bungalows, it is a short, fun scooter ride to the Yellow Bridge (about 10-15 minutes).

We can help you with a scooter rental right from our front desk. We will give you a helmet, a map, and point you in the right direction.

So, next time you cross the bridge, don’t just follow the crowd. Turn right, climb the hill, and find your own private paradise.
